A Mindful Laid Back Wedding In Nature

Nadia & Oliver

WASTE FREE & PURPOSEFUL

Nadia and Ollie planned their wedding remotely, most of the time from India, where they spent their hours practising yoga and dreaming under the burning sun. Envisioning a zero waste, intimate and meaningful wedding, one where all of their special humans could join them in celebration without making a negative impact on the environment, they chose to carbon offset all the journeys made for their destination wedding in southern Spain.

All the styling elements were natural, organic and purposeful. The bridal bouquets were made up of dried meadow flowers, foraged olive and eucalyptus branches for the greenery garlands and the place cards hand written on leaves. The long receptions tables filled with wholesome family style sharing platters and charcuterie boards.

Casual, laid back and beautifully effortless, our bride and groom celebrated all weekend long with their loved ones, without losing sight of their values.

SACRED MOMENTS

THE FIRST TOUCH

Nadia and Ollie chose to have an intimate moment alone before the ceremony but, without seeing each other. Eyes closed and fingers intertwined. A slight squeeze of the hand was everything in that moment.

A ceremony MEDITATION

A silence settled and the guests let their eyelids fall shut over their eyes. The bride and groom hand in hand, their parents by their sides. Sometimes, the simplest of acts have the most profound effects. They become carved into time. They had gathered their guests beneath the oldest tree on the grounds for the group meditation during the ceremony. And now that everyone was present, the festivities could begin.

It’s time to relive this magical natural wedding.

ECO WEDDING HACKS

  • Keep it small, especially if it’s an international wedding you’re organising. Your heart will be full having your tribe around you, but even fuller if you are able to really spend time with them.

  • Choose your menu according to what food is in season and produced in the local area and cut back on flowers by adorning your table with mouth- watering sharing dishes.

  • Nadia and Ollie decided to strip away all the wedding traditions such as confetti throwing, sparklers and cake cutting and to focus purely and simply on their love. There’s no need to implement wedding traditions that mean nothing to you, follow your gut and always do what feels right for you as a couple.

Stylish boho wedding in a Spanish Cortijo

An intimate outdoor destination wedding in…

Southern Spain is the land of old rustic Cortijos and this one sits in the midst of nature with stunning views and pretty courtyards. So why would a young hip Californian couple choose to get married in such a secluded spot? You’ll understand as soon as you start scrolling through the images, but before we do that, I want to tell you about our beautiful bride and groom and wedding you’re about to see.

THE WELCOME GATHERING

Sarah and Ian’s wedding experience starts intimately in a blooming cotton field. Ian, an artist, takes a moment to draw his bride to be as the sun sinks down behind the mountains, a beautiful moment and one of many more to be shared.

Their welcome gathering starts true Spanish style in a white-washed Andalusian village, where they informally catch up with their guests after their long flights over tapas and sangria and a gypsy flamenco show.

AN INTIMATE WEDDING IN NATURE

50 guests arrive to the venue just before sundown, welcomed with pretty flowers floating in champagne, they gather in the open garden to talk about last nights shenanigans. After a while, we lead the guests into the circular ceremony space. Moroccan Rugs, leather poufs and kilim cushions fill the first front rows creating an informal lighthearted mood. Cava in hand, guests seat themselves and mingle awaiting the bridal party to enter. Boho flower garlands hang from the trees to meet at the oldest olive tree in the centre, drawing all the attention to the wildly elegant alter. Our bride and groom and their bridesmaids and groomsmen make an emotional entrance into the wedding - the energy is palpable.

Tears, laughter, words spoken poetically precede a stylish cocktail hour of Spain’s finest canapés and wines. Just when the guests think that dinner is done, we lead them into a romantic open courtyard dimly lit with warm candlelight for a sizzling banquet feast cooked live in front of them. Earthy boho florals decorate the aged wooden tables, old ceramic tiles with handwritten calligraphy are used as the place settings and brass tableware and golden brown linens are key elements throughout the styling.

A few speeches and many bottles of wine later, the guests are ready to rock n roll. The party starts in the lush gardens by the pool, DJ Rodney drops a beat, disco lighting pierces through the darkness, the fully stocked bar opens and the guests hit the dance floor to dance the night away.

The greatest finale to last years wedding season.

Moroccan inspired boho wedding

Elizabeth and Robin’s intimate wedding was an emotional, warm and powerful one…

Elizabeth and Robin’s intimate wedding was an emotional, warm and powerful one. Tears of joy, words that will be remembered for a lifetime and uncontrollable fits of laughter were shared amongst dear friends and family. Meaningful vows were read on a summer’s evening, in a wild overgrown meadow in the mountains of Andalusia, Spain. The bride, beautiful and goddess like wore a floaty bohemian gown with to-die-for flared sleeves, designed and made by her mother and the groom and bridal party dressed in warm earthy shades harmonising with the wedding design.

Leading an eco conscious lifestyle, Lizy and Robin’s wedding was effortlessly sustainable and earth friendly. The whole menu was vegetarian, serving a delicious variety of hearty home cooked Spanish dishes, Ottolenghi style salads, organic wines and raw vegan desserts. Stationary was printed on khadi paper (handmade from India) and eclectic decor that had been collected on their travels were used to style parts of the wedding. Beaded and woven rattan lampshades, florals and greenery hung low over the rustic dining tables. Berber rugs, low chakki tables, poufs, cushions and lanterns crowded the meadow creating the cosiest nomadic style chill-out lounge.

An extraordinary experience and I feel so privileged to have worked with The Kitcheners on this one.

Ready to be blown away?

Bohemian elopement in secret Bali

Secret Bali is blissful…

Bali is for dreamers. A wonderland of nature. Raw, wild and beautiful nature lain across one of the most idyllic islands on earth.

As soon as we booked our flights to this exotic place we’d heard so much about and seen so much of via instagram and famous travel bloggers, our expectations were pretty high. But we could never have prepared ourselves for what met us when we delved a little deeper into the remote clandestine Bali. It was then that we knew, we had to share this with the rest of the world.

Steph and Tim had been living the high life in the hip town of Canggu for the past few months. They married three years ago and were the beautiful couple we got the chance of spending time with, and shooting, for this stunning elopement inspiration you are about to see.

Secret Bali is magical. Even during the monsoon when the rain falls like waterfalls, washing clean the giant leaves of the jungle plants, drumming on the bamboo rooftops, down the sacred temple walls and through the large stretches of rice terraces. The smiling faces of the Balinese people will make you feel more than welcome on their blissful island and their connection to nature, wildlife and protecting the ecosystems are an inspiration for us all.

This is our small tribute to this incredible part of the world. Sit back and enjoy the journey through our eyes.
